Florida Population Passes 20 Million

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and got to enjoy some time with family and friends.

I spent Christmas with 20,271,272 of my closest friends.

That’s right, Florida just passed the 20,000,000 resident mark.

Between July 2014 and July 2015, Florida added 365,000 residents, meaning roughly 1,000 people per day moved to the state, making it the 2nd fastest growing state behind Texas.

According to the Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Florida, Florida’s population is expected to reach 26 million by 2030, which averages out to approximately 400,000 new residents every year between now and then.

Here are some articles on Florida reaching this incredible milestone:

One of Florida's least populated areas is the Panhandle, home to Watersound Origins.

Watersound Origins offers a relaxed setting amid the natural beauty of Lake Powell and towering pines with the convenience of quaint shops, lively eateries and local activities of famed Scenic Highway 30-A just three miles south.

Influenced by maritime architecture of year’s past, the Watersound Origins community’s architectural design re-imagines and modernizes the coastal shingle home into a vernacular building style that is distinctly Florida. A variety of floor plans ideal for families, individuals or seasonal residents are offered starting in the mid $400’s.

In celebration of its natural surroundings, this community will promote an array of outdoor recreational activities. Kayak on Lake Powell, play with your children or grandchildren in the neighborhood parks, or walk along the trails and paths winding throughout the community.
